In this section operations are carried out to compact waste in order to facilitate its transport and placement in landfill, recovery or disposal. Compacting can be carried out by means of mobile pressing equipment or by grinding. The waste to be ground is stored either in boxes or on pallets in the same room with a storage capacity of 200 tonnes. The material to be ground is placed in a mobile container or in packages on pallets, or loose in a heap, and is fed by mechanical means into the hopper of a primary grinder with counter-rotating shafts, which after grinding transfers the waste by belt to a mobile container in special bays, from which it is subsequently loaded onto vehicles that take it to its final destination (such as landfill or incineration). The plant has a treatment capacity of 7 t/h.
