Arrex Cucine: industrial waste gets a new lease of life with Recycla
Together to treat waste from the furniture supply chain
Waste that cannot be directly recycled into materials is transformed into industrial fuel
A stylish Italian product with a strong focus on sustainability, emphasising the circularity of industrial waste: this is the essence of the collaboration between Arrex, a top tier kitchen brand, and Recycla, a Herambiente (Hera Group) company specialising in the treatment and recovery of production waste that is typically non recyclable, such as solvents, oil sludge, paint residues, and packaging contaminated with chemicals – waste that is prevalent in the furniture industry. Arrex has been awarded the ECOL Design Award in recognition of its achievements in waste reduction, recovery and resource savings. This prestigious accolade is presented annually by Recycla to client companies that have demonstrated exceptional performance in sustainable waste management. For Arrex, it also serves as a crucial element in its environmental reporting to stakeholders, highlighting the company's commitment to sustainability.

With ECOL360°, Arrex improves its environmental profile
Through Recycla's ECOL360° service, Arrex is able to transform waste often hazardous that would typically be sent for disposal, into industrial fuel, which is used to power the so-called hard-to-abate sectors, high energy-demanding industries where replacing fossil fuel sources (typically methane gas) with alternative fuels like hydrogen or through electrification is more technically challenging. By avoiding the use of fossil fuels, Recycla's industrial fuel contributes to significant natural resource savings. This environmental contribution is documented in detail for each client, providing valuable reports for both customer accreditation and sustainability reporting.
The circular economy process, which begins at Arrex's Mansué (Treviso) plants, demands strict waste management a non-core activity that companies often struggle to fully implement. To ensure efficient management, Arrex has entrusted it to Recycla, which has 20 years of expertise in the field.
From process analysis to storage, in full compliance with regulations
The project began with a detailed review of kitchen production processes, enabling Recycla to identify opportunities to reduce overall waste generation and pinpoint residual materials suitable for conversion into fuel. This analysis also allowed for the organisation of efficient waste collection and storage, preventing incorrect mixtures and streamlining the recovery process. Managed through a shared information platform between the client and supplier, the process has been carefully designed to ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations, both in terms of temporary storage at the company and in the documentation flow.

Arrex personnel training
In addition to significantly improving the recovery process and optimising waste transportation with further environmental and cost benefits the ECOL360° service has also enhanced the environmental knowledge of Arrex personnel. Recycla technicians provided targeted training, ensuring that the company maintains the highest waste management standards over the long term.
