Ilcam: waste gets new lease of life thanks to Recycla
Ilcam, a leader in the production of furniture doors, has chosen Recycla to avoid the disposal, among others, of paint scraps, solvents, glues and contaminated packaging: thanks to Recycla technology, waste is transformed into industrial fuel, preserving resources. Sustainability takes many forms at Ilcam, a European leader in the production of doors for the furniture industry: from the use of FSC and PEFC certified wood, to energy efficiency, to the production of photovoltaic energy on the company's roofs (2.24 GWh/year of renewable electricity), as well as ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), ISO 14001 (environment), and ISO 50001 (energy) certifications.

Recovery of paint scraps, glues, solvents, contaminated packaging
But sustainability also includes virtuous waste management. For this reason, the Cormons-based group has chosen Recycla to close the industrial waste cycle. Recycla, a company of the Herambiente Group (in turn part of the Hera Group), thanks to its know-how, also gives a second life to the typical waste of the furniture supply chain usually destined for disposal, such as paint scraps, glues, solvents, contaminated packaging.
After appropriate processing, these are sent to material recovery or become unconventional fuels, an energy source that feeds the so-called hard-to-abate sectors, i.e. energy-intensive industries where it is more difficult to replace fossil sources (e.g. methane gas) with alternative fuels such as hydrogen or through electrification.
In these cases, Recycla's unconventional fuel, which reduces the use of fossil sources, helps achieve significant savings in natural resources. For this reason, Ilcam has chosen Recycla's ECOL360gradi service, a programme that offers operational support on-site and ensures timely compliance with complex environmental regulations.

The circular economy is the basis of Recycla's effort
ECOL360° is based on an initial analysis of the company's production and the subsequent characterisation of the waste generated. The goal is to reduce waste (where possible) on the one hand, and ensure that collection and storage do not compromise its workability on the other, thereby facilitating recovery while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Recycla and Ilcam have shared waste collection planning based on production cycles and the limits imposed by regulations, in order to optimise logistics and always ensure operational continuity, without saturating temporary storage facilities at the company.
The entire process is based on the EcolWeb digital platform, also accessible by smartphone, which allows the customer to get a real-time view of inventories and the electronic management of the waste loading/unloading register.
