Overview
The storage plant located in the Pisa plant hub accepts hazardous and non hazardous special waste also from outside the region. At this plant, flammable waste is stored both in packages and in tanks. The storage facility contains shelves for waste in packages placed under a canopy and eight tanks for bulk waste. The section also houses a facility for transferring packaged waste to the tanks.

How does the plant work?
Flammable waste is stored in packages and tanks. The waste in packages is stored in a covered area on shelves as well as on the ground in a dedicated area. The waste is mostly liquid, but can also be solid or semi-solid, for a total capacity of 280 tonnes. The 8 dedicated storage tanks are equipped with a nitrogen blanketing system which is produced by the existing nitrogen generator. The safety emissions coming from the tanks are treated to abate pollutants in an activated carbon filter.
