Sustainable and innovative solutions in integrated waste management
Herambiente, which is 75% owned by the Hera Group, owns its waste treatment facilities and has grown over time by acquiring other companies in its sector to become a leader both in terms of the amount of waste treated and in terms of coverage of the entire national territory. The remaining 25% is held by EWHL European Waste Holdings Limited, a company incorporated under British law, 50% owned by British Infrastructure Fund 3i Managed Infrastructure Acquisitions LP and 50% by Dutch Pension Fund Stichting Pensioenfonds ABP.
What we do
We organise and manage all operational and commercial activities of waste treatment and recovery plants. Through our expertise, knowledge of the issues, identification of collective needs and a network of qualified partners we are capable of safeguarding and caring for the environmental and industrial heritage across the whole country. We manage directly with our subsidiaries or with qualified national and foreign partners all the activities related to the treatment, recovery and disposal of solid and liquid, municipal and special waste through a plant system based on the most modern technologies.

In recent years we have grown and the motivation that underpins our work has also evolved. Our target market has gone beyond our local area and community, including companies and offering innovative services to different industrial sectors and large national and international players. Our sphere of action has expanded to include the European market. Thanks to the acquisitions we have made in recent years, we are now in a position to present ourselves not only as a provider of waste treatment services, but also as a manufacturer of semi-finished and finished products derived from waste, with a focus on customer care and environmental sustainability.
From the origins to market leadership
The roots of our parent company go back almost one hundred years, to the twentieth century, when the municipalities of the region of Emilia Romagna began to entrust municipal companies with the management of waste and, over the years, with the construction of treatment plants for municipal waste. Since Herambiente was founded in 2009, the company has grown year after year, acquiring companies, facilities and strategic skills that have made it one of the leading companies in the market today.

Incorporation
Herambiente was born from the merger between local companies and the environmental branch of the Hera Group.

Molise
Herambiente acquired Energout, a company that managed a waste-to-energy plant in Pozzilli, in the province of Isernia.

Veneto and Friuli
Hera acquired the multiutility AcegasApsAmga and Herambiente integrated waste-to-energy plants in Padua and Trieste and a special waste storage platform in Padua.

Lombardy
Herambiente acquired Ecoenergy (with a SSF production plant in the province of Mantua). HASI - Herambiente Servizi Industriali was also founded in 2014.

Tuscany, Veneto, Friuli and Emilia
Herambiente acquired Akron (Bologna), a company operating in the selection of municipal waste, Waste Recycling (Pisa), specialised in the treatment of industrial waste and landfills in the region of Veneto (Treviso and Verona) and the Geo Nova storage centre (Pordenone).

New horizons
Herambiente started the acquisition of Aliplast, thereby entering the plastic waste recycling sector; the expansion of its plants for industrial waste continued: Waste Recycling acquired Teseco (Pisa).

Tuscany
Herambiente acquired Pistoia Ambiente, a company that managed the Serravalle Pistoiese (Pistoia) landfill.

Herambiente acquired a waste water treatment plant in Pozzilli (Isernia).

Herambiente continued to grow in the industrial waste market
HASI and Eni Rewind set up HEA to build a new special waste treatment platform (Ravenna).

Investments, growth, diversification
Foundation of BIORG, a company dedicated to the production of biomethane and compost (Modena). HASI acquired the industrial waste platforms Vallortigara (Vicenza), Recycla (Pordenone) and SEA (Ancona).

Leading operator in remediation services, industrial waste treatment, decommissioning of industrial plants, and bonded civil works for oil & gas.
