Herambiente at IAIA25 - Impact Assessment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence in Bologna

Herambiente presents its environmental data optimization project implemented on four pilot plants owned by the Group at IAIA 2025

In a global context where sustainability requires advanced industrial solutions, innovation starts where value is generated. Herambiente has taken part in IAIA25 - Impact Assessment in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, a leading global conference on environmental impact assessment and the implementation of operational tools to help companies, communities, institutions, and associations improve their effectiveness, transparency, reliability, and environmental performance in relation to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).

On April 29, 2025, Herambiente welcomed international companies, institutions, and professionals for a technical visit to its Ferrara plant, which consists of a selection and recovery plant and a waste-to-energy plant. The site is a strategic hub for Herambiente's industrial infrastructure: the waste-to-energy plant, integrated with the city's district heating network, and the selection and recovery plant for urban and special waste are a concrete example of efficiency, circularity, and technological innovation applied to environmental management.

Following this, Katia Gamberini, Manager of Authorizations, Environmental Monitoring, and Approvals at Herambiente, gave two presentations on May 2 and 3 in Bologna during the IAIA25 conference sessions, describing Herambiente's experience with artificial intelligence in its business. The company has implemented the AI-based q-Cumber ESIA platform, which is capable of processing environmental performance monitoring data together with contextual data (e.g., weather conditions, air quality, groundwater and surface water quality, traffic data, etc.) from its plants. To date, the project is active at four pilot plants: the Pozzilli waste-to-energy plant, the Castiglione delle Stiviere plant, the Padua waste-to-energy plant, and the Serravalle Pistoiese landfill

The participation in IAIA25 confirms Herambiente's role as a strategic partner for ecological transition, alongside companies and stakeholders who focus on operational reliability, ESG vision, and high value-added plants.
