Overview
The organic waste separation and biostabilisation plant is responsible for separating the dry fraction from the organic fraction of mixed waste and biostabilising the organic fraction. In addition, the plant can also separate and recover ferrous materials. The processing outputs of this plant include: dry fraction with high calorific value and the biostabilised product that can be used for environmental reclamation and for the daily covering for landfills and ferrous materials to be recovered as raw material.

- treatment of municipal solid waste;
- stabilisation of the organic fraction deriving from on-site mechanical selection of mixed waste or from third-party municipal solid waste mechanical selection plants.
- dry fraction (oversieve) sent to the overflow waste management zone;
- decomposable fraction (undersieve) sent to the biostabilisation tank;
- ferrous fraction.
The incoming mixed waste is unloaded into trenches capable of storing approximately 3,000 m³ of material. After elimination of any bulky fractions, the waste is sent to the automatic selection plant where, through grinding, screening and deferrisation operations, three homogeneous fractions are separated:
The undersieve from the two lines is collected by rubber conveyor belts and sent to the oxidation section to undergo hygienisation and oxidation for the production of biostabilised material. Any organic fractions deriving from third-party plants are also delivered here.
Oxidation of the organic substances takes place through a static forced aeration process consisting of 11 biocells each equipped with a fan that guarantees the supply of oxygen needed for biostabilisation. The exhaust air is sucked in and sent to a natural filtration system (biofilter).
Products leaving the plant
